Did you know that according to the American Automobile Association (AAA), in 2025, nearly half of the calls received for towing were for vehicles where fluid changes, belt inspections, and tire rotations were neglected?
Long story short, by doing the regular maintenance, your Hyundai can run better and longer, saving you from costly inconveniences.

Service schedules vary depending on your Hyundai vehicle’s year, model, and engine type. We recommend referring to your Owner’s Manual which outlines your specific vehicle’s schedule. You can also contact the Hyundai dealer you service your vehicle at – or any ASE-certified mechanic shop – and ask for assistance to ensure you’re maintaining your vehicle as recommended.
A good rule of thumb to ensure compliance is to use OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts, which all Hyundai dealers do. Just make sure, if you use an independent shop, that they’re ASE-certified and are using either Genuine Hyundai parts and fluids, or that they are OEM-spec.
Every vehicle, as recommended by the manufacturer, has a set of services that need to be performed at specific times. These services include, but are not limited to, changing oil, transmission fluid, and air filters, tire rotations, wheel alignments, and more. Timing is typically broken down by mileage or time (e.g. some vehicles require an oil change every 3,000 miles or every 3 months, whichever comes first.)
Following the guidelines of regularly scheduled maintenance is crucial to maximizing the lifespan of your vehicle and its parts.
Scheduled maintenance on a car is a set of services that need to be routinely performed or items that need to be replaced in order to maximize the life of your vehicle. Every vehicle is made up of many moving parts. And those parts need to operate at their peak. If they don’t, they could not only cause issues with that specific item (e.g. your transmission), but they could also trigger the premature wear and tear and or failure of other items. That’s why it’s important to follow manufacturer guidelines and make sure you get your oil changed, transmission fluid changed, tires rotated, etc. in a timely manner.
Every single part of your vehicle—from a tiny spark plug to a tire to a radiator—has a specific role to play. And after time, depending on how much you drive, your driving habits, climate, and more, each of those parts begin to wear down. By regularly maintaining your vehicle with a certified Hyundai dealer or ASE-certified technician using Genuine Hyundai or OEM-spec parts, you can save money while maximizing the lifespan of your vehicle. You’re also ahead of the preventative maintenance game, as not performing certain services on time could result in other larger items prematurely wearing out or causing undo harm, which will result in additional costs.
For example, making sure brake pads are changed in a timely manner. Doing so will typically mean just replacing the pads. However, if you wait too long and the pads wear thin, you can risk damaging the rotors, which will cost a lot more to fix or replace than the pads alone.
Another example would be with your tires and wheel alignment. Properly aligned tires – along with rotating tires as directed – will help you maximize tire lifespan as well as fuel consumption, helping you save money.
Simply put, car manufacturers designed your car for it to go straight. Makes sense, right? The alignment does just that – technicians adjust the angles of your Hyundai’s wheels so they’re straight as an arrow. That way your tires are flush on the road.
Maintaining manufacturer-recommended proper tire pressure, measured in PSI (pounds per square inch), is essential for your vehicle. Not only can it help prevent blowouts and premature wear and tear, but it can also help you get better gas mileage too.
How does a rotation work and why is it important? Well, it’s really all about preventing uneven wear patterns. To do that, front tires, typically on front-wheel-drive cars, are moved to the rear. That’s because front tires and rear tires have different jobs, thus causing wear differently. For example, since the front tires are in charge of steering and most of the braking, they wear out quicker, particularly on the outer edges. Whereas rear tires handle most of your car’s acceleration. It’s typically recommended to rotate your tires every other oil change. That said, tire rotation patterns do vary based on vehicle model, so ask your technician when it’s the right time for your vehicle.
No. Hybrid vehicles are not more expensive to maintain. Routine maintenance, like oil changes and tire rotations, are similar to gas vehicles, but hybrids experience less engine and brake wear because the gas engine runs less often and regenerative braking reduces stress on brake pads and rotors. As a result, many hybrids have lower long-term maintenance costs.
Yes. Hybrid vehicles still use an internal combustion engine, so oil changes are required. However, because the electric motor assists with driving, hybrids typically need oil changes less frequently than gas-powered vehicles. Always follow your Hyundai Owner’s Manual and consult a Hyundai dealer for recommended service intervals.
Hybrid and gas vehicles share the same basic maintenance needs, including oil changes, tire rotations, and alignments. However, hybrids have an electric motor that helps reduce engine use and brake wear. As a result, hybrid vehicles often require less frequent maintenance and lower overall costs compared to traditional gas-powered cars.
Electric vehicles (EVs) require a lot less maintenance than gas-powered vehicles since they have significantly fewer moving parts – and no engine. That said, EVs do still require routine tire rotations, tire pressure checks, brake system checks, and cabin filter replacements. One additional item for EV maintenance is monitoring your battery’s health, along with inspecting the coolant used to regulate battery temperature.
Yes. With an EV, since there’s no internal combustion engine, you’ll never need an oil change, replacing of spark plugs, transmission servicing, etc. Plus, since EVs have regenerative braking, you won’t have to service your brakes nearly as often.
