Sustainability
What can we do about it? What can’t we do?
When there’s a will, there’s a way. And when you’re passionate about sustainability, you find as many opportunities to improve sustainability as you can, by land, by sea, or from within.
Good things come in trees.
From sea to shining sea.
What’s inside counts.
In partnership with One Tree Planted, a nonprofit organization dedicated to global reforestation, we’ve planted 6 50,000 trees nationwide. It’s part of our commitment to sustainability, and an effort to help diminish the impact of climate change.
Hyundai is partnering with ocean conservation group Healthy Seas to combat ocean pollution, nurture sustainable marine ecosystems, and support a circular economy.
We’re always looking for quality materials to improve sustainability--like vegan leather, eco-paint, sugarcane-based eco-fibers and recycled yarn. And we aspire to use them wherever we can.

Intelligent manufacturing
In October 2024, Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), our intelligent manufacturing plant produced its first vehicles, an IONIQ 5. Located in Bryan County, Georgia, the highly connected, automated and flexible manufacturing system organically connects all elements of the EV ecosystem to realize customer value. Utilizing AI and data, it optimizes all processes of production- order collection, procurement, logistics and production. And once it reaches full production, the plant will produce 300,000 Hyundai, Genesis and Kia electric vehicles.

FAQ
Sustainability is finding and creating ways to meet our needs in the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. It’s about making sure we don’t deplete natural or physical resources, so that they will remain available for the long term.
Companies, processes and products emit and disperse greenhouse gases such as CO2 in the atmosphere. To become carbon neutral means to take action against these emissions through the avoidance, reduction and offsetting of these carbon emissions to compensate for what they have produced. This can be done through the planting of trees, forest conservation, and renewable energy expansion.
Mobility is the ability to move about freely, whether in one of our vehicles, or even just physically in your own body.
Many say electric cars are the future of motoring because they are better for the environment. They produce zero tailpipe emissions because they don't have a combustion engine, which can cause climate change and air pollution. According to a 2024 report by the IEA, almost one in five cars sold in the United States will be electric by 2030, and by 2040, most cars sold across the world will be electric.

HMA’s new EV facilities are expected to create 13,500 jobs in Georgia and Alabama These jobs are estimated to create or retain an additional 62,800 jobs in the United States by 2025.
