Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama has assembled more than 5 million vehicles in Montgomery, Alabama. Having started production in May 2005, it reached the 5 million-vehicle milestone in 2021, having produced: 2,562,880 SONATA; 1,489,568 ELANTRA; 908,779 SANTA FE; 36,989 TUCSON; and 1,784 SANTA CRUZ.

 

IONIQ 5, IONIQ 9, SANTA CRUZ, TUCSON, SANTA FE and SANTA FE Hybrid are all assembled in the USA.

 

Hyundai launched its subcompact Excel model in the U.S. market in February 1986, and received great customer response. In just seven months Hyundai Motor America sold 100,000 Excels, and sales continued to grow.

 

HMA and its dealerships added USD 20.1 billion in private earnings to the U.S. economy, including USD 3.0 billion in social welfare contribution and USD 2.8 billion in federal and state income tax revenue.

 

HMA employs 3,600 in the state of Alabama. In addition, HMA’s Alabama dealer network operates 16 dealerships and directly hires 900 local employees. The total employment contribution from HMA auto operation and dealers in the state of Alabama is 22,200.

 

HMA invested USD 42 million in 2022, and is responsible for hiring 2,350 workers in Georgia, contributing a total employment of 9,600 people.

 

Hyundai and its independent dealer network directly employ over 61,000 individuals across the country, with nearly 130,000 additional jobs being created through intermediate and spin-off forms of employment, totaling over 190,000 jobs.
