U.S. EV and Battery Facilities
We celebrated the grand opening of our first dedicated electrified vehicle and battery assembly facilities in Savannah, Georgia. The key pillar of our $12.6 billion investment in Georgia and the largest economic development project in the state’s history. Our new vehicle assembly and battery plant is set to lead mobility electrification, producing up to 500,000 electric and hybrid vehicles annually and bringing 8,500 jobs and opportunity to the community in Bryan County, Georgia.

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama has assembled more than 6.27 million vehicles in Montgomery, Alabama since 2005. Today it turns out about 360,000 vehicles each year, including Hyundai SANTA FE, SANTA FE Hybrid, SONATA, ELANTRA, TUCSON AND SANTA CRUZ.

 

Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America, our recently opened electrified vehicle assembly and battery plant in Georgia will produce up to 500,000 electric and hybrid vehicles annually, including IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9.

 

IONIQ 5, IONIQ 9, SANTA CRUZ, TUCSON, SANTA FE and SANTA FE Hybrid are all assembled in the USA.

 

Hyundai launched its subcompact Excel model in the U.S. market in February 1986, and received great customer response. In just seven months Hyundai Motor America sold 100,000 Excels, and sales continued to grow.

 

HMA and its dealerships added USD 20.1 billion in private earnings to the U.S. economy, including USD 3.0 billion in social welfare contribution and USD 2.8 billion in federal and state income tax revenue.

 

Originally employing around 2,000 people, HMMA now employs approximately 4,200 people. Along with its suppliers, Hyundai has directly and indirectly created more than 40,000 jobs in Alabama.

 

HMA invested USD 42 million in 2022, and is responsible for hiring 2,350 workers in Georgia, contributing a total employment of 9,600 people.

 

Hyundai Motor Group has about 250,000 employees nationwide.
